NOT a \u2018try harder\u2019 issue<\/p>\n<p>I can\u2019t tell you how many clients have told me about the negative comments that they receive from every direction &#8211; family and friends, teachers and extracurricular instructors and even the clerk at the grocery store has an opinion about what you should be doing!<\/p>\n<p>BAD PARENT\u2026.. I DOUBT IT!!<\/p>\n<p>TIRED PARENT\u2026. More than likely!<\/p>\n<p>A PARENT WHO IS TRYING TO WADE THROUGH THE BUREAUCRACY OF A SCHOOL BOARD\u2026. Count on it!<\/p>\n<p>AN ADVOCATE \u2026.. OR LEARNING TO BE ONE\u2026\u2026 it\u2019s never too late to start!<\/p>\n<p>Are you tired of\u2026..<\/p>\n<p>The judgements from people who have NO idea what you have tried or the strategies that you have in place to help your child be successful<\/p>\n<p>The negative comments from teachers\u2026.DAILY\u2026. surely there must be something good to say. Why can\u2019t they tell you about those things once in a while??<\/p>\n<p>The constant battle to advocate for your child\u2026.. Accommodations in an IEP do NOT give your child an unfair advantage nor are they optional!<\/p>\n<p>Opinions about whether or not you are doing the right thing by choosing to medicate (or not medicate).<\/p>\n<p>Being a parent is probably one of the most difficult jobs there is \u2026. After all, your kid didn\u2019t arrive with a manual and everyone from doctors to friends and family and strangers at the park seem to have a way to get your kid to shape up. \u2026. They just aren\u2019t getting the proper discipline at home\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>Then \u2026. Add ADHD (and quite possibly another learning disability, anxiety, OCD \u2026. )<\/p>\n<p>REALLY\u2026. How is a parent supposed to get answers and feel competent??<\/p>\n<p>MY ADVICE\u2026.. Get as much information as you can and go with what you know in your heart is best for your child. You might not be an expert on ADHD<\/p>\n<p>YOU ARE, however, an expert about YOUR child.<\/p>\n<p>DON\u2019T believe everything people are saying and DO have confidence in yourself!!<\/p>\n<p>REMEMBER\u2026.. although everybody makes mistakes\u2026\u2026 there aren\u2019t many parents who intentionally do something to hinder their child\u2019s potential for being the best that they can be<\/p>\n<p>WE DO THE BEST THAT WE CAN WITH THE RESOURCES AVAILABLE TO US IN THAT MOMENT<\/p>\n<p>So\u2026.
